Asana - Get Task

↩ Part of the Asana integration.

Reads a single task by its gid (GET /tasks/{gid}) and passes the Asana object to the next node. Use it to check whether a task is complete, who owns it, or when it is due before deciding what the workflow does next.

You can narrow the response with opt_fields, which keeps the payload small.

FieldTypeRequiredDescription
credentials_idcredentialsYesAsana credential
task_gidtextYesTask gid
opt_fieldstextNoComma-separated fields to return (e.g. name,completed,assignee)

task_gid accepts dynamic variables. opt_fields is sent as-is as a query parameter.

This module requires an Asana credential:

FieldDescription
access_tokenPersonal Access Token from app.asana.com
default_workspace_gidOptional fallback workspace

data is the task object returned by Asana:

{
"gid": "1209876543210987",
"resource_type": "task",
"name": "Follow-up: ACME Inc.",
"notes": "Requested a quote for 200 units.",
"completed": false,
"completed_at": null,
"due_on": "2026-09-15",
"assignee": { "gid": "1201111111111111", "resource_type": "user", "name": "Ana Ruiz" },
"created_at": "2026-08-28T08:10:31.000Z",
"permalink_url": "https://app.asana.com/0/1201234567890123/1209876543210987"
}

Along with it, _meta:

{ "moduleVersion": "1.0.0", "success": true, "gid": "1209876543210987", "totalMs": 172 }
{
"credentials_id": "asana_ops",
"task_gid": "1209876543210987"
}
{
"credentials_id": "asana_ops",
"task_gid": "{{data.gid}}",
"opt_fields": "name,completed,assignee,due_on"
}

Downstream nodes then reference {{data.completed}} or {{data.name}}.

  • Asana’s default response already omits many fields. If something you expect is missing (for example permalink_url or custom fields), request it explicitly in opt_fields.
  • The gid is a string. Keep it as text so no digits are lost to numeric conversion.
  • A 404 means the task does not exist or the token’s account cannot see it. This is not retried — check the gid and the project membership.
