What is an OpenAI Credential
Section titled “What is an OpenAI Credential”An OpenAI credential allows your workflows to use artificial intelligence models like GPT (text), DALL-E (images), and Whisper (audio). You need an API key from the OpenAI platform.

How to Get the API Key
Section titled “How to Get the API Key”- Go to platform.openai.com
- Sign in or create an account
- Navigate to API Keys in the sidebar (or go directly to platform.openai.com/api-keys)
- Click Create new secret key
- Give it a descriptive name (e.g., “Floogos Production”)
- Copy the key immediately (it won’t be shown again)
- Paste it in the API Key field in Floogos
Billing Setup
Section titled “Billing Setup”To use the OpenAI API you need credits:
- Go to Settings > Billing on platform.openai.com
- Add a payment method
- Load credits or configure automatic billing
- Optionally, set monthly spending limits
Available Models
Section titled “Available Models”With this credential you can use nodes like:
- AI Chat: GPT-4o, GPT-4, GPT-3.5 Turbo for conversations and text generation
- AI Image: DALL-E 3 for image generation
- AI Audio: Whisper for audio transcription
- AI Embeddings: For semantic search and vectors
Security
Section titled “Security”- Never share your API key publicly
- Use different keys for development and production
- Set spending limits in your OpenAI account
- Rotate keys periodically
- If a key is compromised, revoke it immediately from the OpenAI dashboard
