Asana - Create Task

↩ Part of the Asana integration.

Creates a task in Asana (POST /tasks). Give it a name and a destination — a project or a workspace — and optionally notes, an assignee and a due date.

The node returns the created task, including its gid, so the next nodes can comment on it, update it or store the reference.

FieldTypeRequiredDescription
credentials_idcredentialsYesAsana credential
nametextYesTask name
notestextareaNoDescription / notes (plain text)
project_gidtextNoProject gid (recommended)
workspace_gidtextNoWorkspace gid, if no project and no credential default
assigneetextNoAssignee gid or email
due_ontextNoDue date in YYYY-MM-DD format

name, notes, project_gid, assignee and due_on accept dynamic variables. workspace_gid is used exactly as typed.

This module requires an Asana credential:

FieldDescription
access_tokenPersonal Access Token from app.asana.com
default_workspace_gidOptional fallback workspace

data is the created task as returned by Asana:

{
"gid": "1209876543210987",
"resource_type": "task",
"name": "Follow-up: ACME Inc.",
"notes": "Requested a quote for 200 units.",
"completed": false,
"due_on": "2026-09-15",
"assignee": { "gid": "1201111111111111", "resource_type": "user" },
"projects": [{ "gid": "1201234567890123", "resource_type": "project" }]
}

Along with it, _meta:

{ "moduleVersion": "1.0.0", "success": true, "gid": "1209876543210987", "totalMs": 431 }
{
"credentials_id": "asana_ops",
"name": "Prepare monthly report",
"project_gid": "1201234567890123"
}
{
"credentials_id": "asana_ops",
"name": "Follow-up: {{data.customer}}",
"notes": "{{data.message}}",
"project_gid": "1201234567890123",
"assignee": "sales@yourcompany.com",
"due_on": "2026-09-15"
}
{
"credentials_id": "asana_ops",
"name": "Review supplier contract",
"workspace_gid": "1200000000000001"
}
  • due_on must be a date in YYYY-MM-DD — it is a date field, not a timestamp.
  • assignee accepts a user gid or an email; the email must belong to a member of the workspace.
  • If you pass both project_gid and workspace_gid, both are sent; the project decides where the task appears.
  • notes is plain text — Asana renders it without markdown.
  • A 400 typically means an unrecognised gid or an email that is not a workspace member. Validation errors are not retried.
