Monday.com - Delete Item

↩ Part of the Monday.com integration.

This module deletes an item with the delete_item GraphQL mutation:

mutation($item_id: ID!) {
delete_item(item_id: $item_id) { id }
}

Only the item id is needed — no board id — and the mutation returns the id of the deleted item so you can confirm the operation downstream.

  • In Monday, deleting an item sends it to the board’s recycle bin, where a user can restore it for a limited time. It is not an immediate hard delete.
  • Deleting an item also deletes its subitems and its updates.
  • Because this node is destructive, gate it behind a condition — or a status check with Get Item — rather than wiring it straight to a trigger.
  • Monday answers HTTP 200 even when the mutation fails. An id that does not exist raises a GraphQL error, which the node reports as a validation error and does not retry.
  • To archive instead of delete, use the archive_item mutation through GraphQL Query.
